A Fashionable Facebook?

So I definitely never thought I'd be that person. The one who actually acknowledges, let alone checks out the ads on the right hand side of the Facebook homepage. Of course everyone knows that the site handpicks ads that they think would grab your eye, based on who knows what previously observed criteria. All I know is, the other day there was an advertisement for a vintage site called Ruche, and I must say I was intrigued. So I investigated. What I found was a plethora of adorable feminine frocks in the forms of rompers, dresses, high-waisted shorts/skirts, and billowing beautiful blouses. Not exactly Forever21 priced, but fabulous nonetheless.

Camp Chic?

The fleeting title of 'Hottest Accessory of the Summer' has recently been bestowed upon a most-worthy new subject, one who has already been featured in a plethora of top fashion mags from TeenVogue to Elle (and pretty much everywhere in between). The Dezso Line, founded by the Jaipur/Mumbai-based Sara Beltrán, is said to be "inspired by the ocean and by special moments in her life". Perfect for Florida, yes?

The designer (who previously worked as a stylist for 12 years in New York) now spends her time traveling from coast to coast scouring inspiration for her breathtaking collection of necklaces, rings, and bracelets, which already boasts 18k pink gold shell-molden accents, alongside
fossilized sharks' teeth and shells. The most popular division of her line, the 'friendship bracelets', were artfully characterized by Vogue's Style File blog with, "All play nicely off spring’s surfer-hippie vibe, without making you look like you live on a VW bus." Couldn't have said it better myself.

Aussie Amazingness

Alice McCall Spring 2010Alice McCall's season debut at the Australian Fashion Week caused quite a stir in the Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Shows, as she showcased her trademark 'effortless, beautiful style'. Crimped hair entwined with braided pleats added that touch of well-loved rebellion, which was definitely played up by the bursts of pink and blue color on the models' faces (which highlighted the eyes wonderfully, as well I must say). As for the fabulous apparel, the traditional uniforms of Summer (airy sundresses, silky soft shorts, and feminine lace details) didn't disappoint!

Happy Seventeenth

Happy birthday to me! Seventeen and still a kids size 12. Yet, I am told this is a good thing. I haven't stumbled upon why specifically this is, but I'm sure someone will let me in on that secret one day. For now I convince myself it's just preparing me to be an expert shopper, as I hone my skills scouting out what I label as 'crossovers': The rare apparel, (usually located in the prepster Ralph Lauren, J Crew, and Lilly territories) which although designed with the child in mind, can blend in quite nicely with normal-sized people clothing. Its one of my best-kept secrets, although I suppose I'm letting it all out now. It's why when people exclaim "What an adorable skirt- where'd you get that?!" and I answer "Polo!" they're so utterly confused as to why they didn't see it. Although I'd like to say it's because I'm more adept at discovering hidden blouses and shorts, it's really just that they don't shop in the Ages 4-12 Section.

But on another note, I do have a regular sized neck and feet. Which is why I've decided to post some pictures of the lovely Tory Burch ballet flats, J-Crew and Nordstrom's necklaces I got for my birthday. It's okay if you're jealous, not everyone can turn 17 on may 9th

Color Me Happy

Especially with Dooney & Bourke. After those dark dreaded days of Winter, one craves the Sun- and lots and lots of color. And what better way to bring such vibrant hues into your life than to carry 'em in? With the adorable new totes and backpacks from the Connecticut-based company, it really shouldn't be all that difficult. At least, not when you're stompin' in style with these beauties! Fabrics range from luxurious leather to practical and stylish canvas/nylon, so there's definitely a material to suit anyone's Summer lifestyle, and the possible pattern option is ridiculously adorable. I prefer the solid color blocks, so please excuse my biased display dedicated solely to them. I assure you there's hours worth of gorgeous prints to sift through while you're daydreaming of vacations, so get on over to your nearest D&B ASAP, my friends. The sooner you've acquired that Summer wardrobe the sooner that blessed season will arrive!

Promenade 2010

The final look, compliments to the fabulous Rusty Crickett, which never disappoints. And the lovely lady to my right is my best friend and sister since birth, Lisa, in a gorgeous little JS Boutique number. Needless to say, yellow hues were haute this year. What was also hot was the melted chocolate in the fondue fountain, which I surprisingly managed to avoid dripping onto my dress. Being the graceful gal I am though, I simply couldn't abstain from leaving some residual chocolate marks on my fingers, which of course found their way onto my dress, but not until the night was over thank goodness. Or maybe that's just when I discovered them, but I prefer the first theory.
Nevertheless, a glamorous evening for all, and highly recommended.

On Your Marks, Get Set

... GO! And as the title suggests, I shall be hitting the ground running. For every SAT concept and pattern I analyzed and calculated, I had three more ideas for the She Blogs Couture, so to start things off I'm finally uploading my album from NYC, lovely fashionistas included. I thought it best to document the City that Never Sleeps, in lieu of many sleepless nights of study.
The Fabulous hot pink Marc Jacobs bag. Creeeeptastic.

Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. The color palettes were just soo trendy. And delicious.

A View From the Bridge! 'Twas a lovely engagement.

The sister and me just trekking through the streets of New York. Clad in our Winter-best.

The infamous Flat-Iron District. Just out of view is a secret underground table tennis club we stumbled upon. Another reason I belong in New York City.

A stylin New Yorkian rocking the Longchamp in the rain. Hunter Wellies were also an observed trend, I must have followers in New York..

A beautiful coat I had to capture. With adorable leggings, of course.

Yes.

A real-life beret, worn beautifully.

One of many designed by FIT students. It's made of paper sacs, yet I could have worn this to prom. Possibly.

And so ends my glorious City trip, from cab rides and paper bag dresses to Longchamps and Fashion hot dogs. And don't get too upset about reaching the end of this ridiculously long post, because I can assure you there are a myriad of uploads yet to come. Sit tight!
