Campus Cool

Well, a new school year is upon us, my friends, and with a new school year comes the new fashion season! One of these is more exciting than the other, perhaps you can guess which one?

Senior year, in particular, brings a wide array of familiar places and faces, and speaking of familiarity, I've spotted several trend-repeats that seem to be on the rise both on campus and off. Recycled looks that I remember? I must be getting old..

Here's what's hot for Fall Campus Fashion 2010!

Fall Floral Accessories. Earrings, rings, and headbands galore- a lovely interpretation of the ultra-fem Fall runway trend.

Lelet NY. Flower Headbands are definitely around campus, with some styles more daring
than others. My advice is to find a flatter flower, as the more spherical, pom-pom like florals tend
to look a bit goofy in person.

Embellished Sandals. Some are feminine, some not so much, but whatever they are, the more "stuff" on your sandal, the cuter is seems to get! It's usually seen in the gladiator style, but this look is by far one of the most versatile of the season.

Conservative Classic. In necklines of tunics, blouses, shirts, and dresses everywhere. Low-cut necks seem to have been replaced, and no longer belong with the casual day-style. Ladies, take note!

The Satchel. Practical and stylish. And fabulous for toting around your AP French textbook. Backpacks still work too, but oh how I want a satchel.

As you all know, the classic chic is what's back for Fall 2010, with streaks of inspiration tracing back to the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Here's what to expect from your upcoming Fall/Winter Season of couture.

• inspired by past OTK Boot trend? Perhaps, but oh so practical for cool weather.
• practicality is something fashion doesn't usually take into consideration, so get excited!

• nineties style revival, sure. but the new interpretations of this old style are spot on, creeping into hems, hats, collars, cuffs, and dresses alike!
• though I'm biased with velveteen femininity here, feel free to look up the grunge and dandy versions of the trend

If anyone else is as obsessed with 60s era clothing as I am, you'll be happy to hear that Janie Bryant, the fashion designer who currently outfits the cast of award-winning drama Mad Men, has expanded her domain beyond AMC to QVC, America's beloved home-shopping network.


Making available retro styles and garments once only drooled over past the safety of a television screen (or vintage photos, if you've got'em!), garments such as retro-reversible coats, faux-fur caps, and 60s-styled shrugs are wearable objects once more for the fearlessly fashionable. Finally. The fabulous line, entitled Mod, will be launched September 29th.
