Fairly Brief Hiatus

Just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about She Blogs Couture, misplaced my computer, or died or anything, but that until May 1st I will be in offline mode. May 1st, the deadline for my AP Studio Portfolio, Junior Prom, and a myriad of AP Exams and Finals, will mark my joyous return to the lovely fashion blog. Until then, know that I am missing it much much more than you know! Especially since my new companion is my 1000 page SAT Review Textbook and a wide assortment of review packets. This I just couldn't resist. In case you weren't aware, I am obsessed with all things Disney, and this lovely pink and gold necklace emblazoned with Cinderella's profile is exactly what I shall wear to my Disney Princess job interview (this is before journalism/fashion design school, of course, and after high school). I've been told Tinkerbell also is a job that pays fairly well, as she is in a "high risk" scenario when she zip-lines 200 feet above a screaming crowd on a 95lb weight limit harness.

Pish-posh I say in the face of danger! I'm keeping my options open in case Art School falls through.

This Sprinkle Ring is adorable. It would be an extremely strenuous and trying effort on my part, though, to not pry it open and eat its contents, especially while it was waving around in plain eyesight on my finger. But self-discipline is a good skill to hone. I mean, theoretically.

Va Va Vintage

 After a week-long trip to the Big Apple (a very fabulous post is in the works, my friends) visiting the equally impressive and greatly-revered art schools of Parsons, Pratt, and FIT, I couldn't help but to immerse myself in the beat of the city. The Fashion-conscious and style-saavy seemed to thrive in the heart of Chelsea, but the best part of the area was the antique shops and thrift stores which seemed to sprout up accordingly. After being inspired for seven whole days by these relics of fashion which seemed to have stood the test of time, I hurried back to the blog to document my new-found appreciation for the vintage and vintage-inspired. Here's a collection of my new loves.

 1.Christian Louboutin Sometimes Show Boots. Or cut-out vintage shoes in general. A modern take on the once-ubiquitous style of footwear circa 1940s. Lovely with a breezy floral high-waisted skirt and billowy neutral blouse, yes? And maybe in the time it would take for me to round up the respective matching wardrobe, I will have saved enough to actually purchase the shoes! Maybe... but not likely.

2. Circular Specs. This pair in particular is from a blog I found called NastyGal, but I must say the name is a tad misleading, because as you can see, this is the sweetest pair of eye-protecting lenses I've seen in quite some time. Perhaps a bit quirky and out of place for B-town, but after living the big city life my head is just filled to the brim with outlandish ideas.

 3. Also from NastyGal blog. This bag is exploding right out of the Seventies, and I'm kind of obsessed. I've been favoring messenger-style bags lately, but the small and dainty kind specifically, not the carry-your-laptop-and-textbooks style. This type of bag is especially practical for the city-life, which I unfortunately no longer need to take into account, seeing as I live in Bradenton. Where the chances of being pick-pocketed are the same as running into a celebrity (about zero).

 4. Puffy sleeved blazer blouse. It sounds like some sort of spell, but boy has it cast one over me. I'm swooning behind this laptop screen, just fighting to type out the proper words. Look how it dresses up her casual hairdo into something worthy of a runway, and the flowing fit manages to feminize the whole ensemble, despite the rigid cut of the collar. Those specs of hers are pretty tight, too. Another look from NastyGal, by the way.
